Description
Bartonella are fastidious, aerobic, short, Gram-negative, coccobacillary or bacillary bacteria, that are highly haemin dependent in their nutritional requirements. Humans are the reservoirs of B. quintana, the causal agent of trench fever, transmitted by the human body louse.
