Brucella are small, aerobic, Gram‐negative, coccobacillary bacteria. They are facultative intracellular parasites found in a great variety of animal species. Acute brucellosis or Malta fever presents with non‐specific symptoms; focalization and chronic brucellosis are not uncommon.
